MYCENAE: "Difficulty shows what men are." ~Epictetus

There is a period in Greek history called the Mycenaean period in recognition of the influence and importance of Mycenae during that time. The city served as a military stronghold with a bustling population, a good location with good topography, a healthy water supply and easy access to other parts of the region. It offers a majestic view from its commanding position high above the valley. Even amidst the age and disrepair, there is a vitality and strength that persists and I can imagine life here at the height of its power.
