PANATHENAIC STADIUM: "There is nothing impossible to him who will try." ~Alexander the Great

At first glance, it looks impossible that the Panathenaic stadium could be more than 2300 years old. It is in such good condition that it is still used today to host various events. The reality is that the stadium underwent a major refurbishment as part of an effort to revive the Panathenaic Games, the precursor to our modern Olympic Games. This refurbishment, having been completed only 150 years ago, brought the stadium back to its proper condition which has been maintained ever since.
